Top 10 Texas physician groups by number of physicians
With a population of nearly 30 million people, Texas is the second most populated state in the nation. Definitive Healthcare data also reveals that the state currently has more than 10,000 physician groups currently operating as of December 2022. Physician groups are an essential part of healthcare that provides a patient with treatment across a wide range of specialties.
Using Definitive Healthcare’s PhysicianGroupView product, we created a list of the Texas physician groups with the highest number of physicians.

Which Texas physician group has the most physicians?
The top 10 physician groups have a total of 15,031 physicians and an average of 1,503. The physician group with the most physicians is the Texas Health Physicians Group with 2,395. This Arlington- based group currently operates in over 300 locations across the northern part of the state and covers the vast majority of healthcare specialties.
In second place, with only six fewer physicians is Baylor Scott & White HealthTexas Provider Network, with 2,389 physicians. This network is based out of Dallas and also serves the north Texas area and has been named a “high performing medical group” by the American Medical Group Association. In addition, the group has been awarded 16 Best Practice Awards by the Health Ethics Trust.
In third place, with 2,073 physicians, is Texas Childrens Hospital Physicians. This group is based out of Houston and primarily operates at Texas Childrens Hospital and other affiliated locations in the Houston area to provide pedicatric care to patients.
