Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles has about 50,000 patient discharges annually. The hospital also has the second highest number of staffed beds in the state. Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno had the second most discharges at nearly 36,000. The top 20 hospitals in California by total discharges account for 593,000 discharges, nearly 20% of all patient discharges in the state.

The number of patients discharged from a hospital is a clinical metric that indicates the volume of patients seen on an annual basis. It can be used to compare things like bed size, costs and net revenue to understand staffing, workload and financial implications.
