What Massachusetts IDN has the most affiliated hospitals?

The Massachusetts health system with the most hospitals is Mass General Brigham, with 16 hospitals. Five of their hospitals are nationally recognized by U.S. News & World Report as the best hospitals across the U.S. One of its hospitals, McLean Hospital, was also named as the #1 hospital in the nation for psychiatry, and Spaulding Rehabilitation holds the #2 spot for rehabilitation.

The health system with the second most affiliated hospitals is Beth Israel Lahey Health, with 14 hospitals. These hospitals include teaching, community, and specialty hospitals and combined, have over 2,000 staffed beds.

Massachusetts Bureau of Public Health Facilities and the VA New England Healthcare System are tied for the third-highest number of hospitals, with both IDNs having nine affiliated hospitals.

What Massachusetts IDN has the highest net patient revenue (NPR)?

The IDN in Massachusetts with the highest net patient revenue is Mass General Brigham, with an NPR of $10.2 billion. They rank as one of the highest-earning IDNs in the U.S., based on Definitive Healthcare data. With over 3,000 staffed beds across its 16 hospitals, Mass General Brigham is also the largest IDN in Massachusetts and capable of caring for most patients.

The IDN with the second highest NPR in Massachusetts is Beth Israel Lahey Health, with an NPR of $5.4 billion. This IDN is also the second highest in terms of the number of hospitals, number of staffed beds, and number of discharges.

Brigham Health IDN has the third-highest net patient revenue in Massachusetts, with an NPR of $3.3 billion. This IDN falls under the parent health system Mass General Brigham, the #1 IDN in Massachusetts based on both size and financial success.
